Feature Photo Essay: Servitude

There are two narratives underlining the Servitude series. Servitude implies being subject to something more powerful than you.

For the Christian, this powerful entity is sin. We are bound to its chains and are unable to free ourselves by any of our works. But by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are liberated from sin.

A negative mindset is the captor in the second narrative. This mindset whispers, binds, and keep us from accomplishments and achieving our hopes and dreams. We mentally enslave and limit ourselves. As a creative, I have found this especially true for me. I stunt my potential, thinking I’m inadequate.

But in this series, I am battling. And though I overcome, the battle is not over. Let’s continue to fight, strive, and push against sin and our own doubts. In Christ, we’ve won.
